CB Resourcing was proud to support the CILIP conference this year in Brighton.
There was a great range of sessions and speakers which included our very own Jayne Winch moderating a panel discussion on the value of volunteering experience to your library career.
On day one it was great to hear about the new KM & I group, Paul Corney explained the new ISO accreditation CILIP are developing for knowledge management. We also heard great presentations from Stephen Phillips at Morgan Stanley on professionalising in the corporate world. CJ Anderson of Linklaters then gave an excellent talk on how the information team has become a key catalyst for innovation strategy in her firm, acting as trusted advisors on emerging technologies changing the way legal services are delivered.
Day two saw an excellent keynote from Samira Ahmed on libraries, archives and austerity particularly in the context of the Windrush scandal. She will be following this up with further investigation and we look forward to hearing more on her coverage of the impacts of austerity on the libraries industry.
This year brought together a really broad cross section of the information industry in its broadest sense. It was clear from the talks the information profession has a wonderful opportunity to play a key role in the emerging world of artificial Intelligence because of core information skills such as categorisation and classification.
We will be collaborating with CILIP on further events throughout the year including the launch of our Academic Libraries Skills survey in September.
