Senior Analyst – Emerging technologies (Defence & Aerospace)

This is a unique opportunity to join an early stage and fast-growing technology intelligence company that will test your intellect, judgement and creativity on a daily basis. You will need to thrive in the often dynamic environment of a startup at expansion-stage looking to significantly scale up its operations. 

If you have a proven track record as an analyst but are now looking to challenge yourself and expand your skills by building and growing your own capability and team working with blue chip Defence & Aerospace sector clients, then this is the role for you.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working closely with the founding team, your focus will be on growing the Defence and Aerospace capability. As a senior analyst servicing key accounts you will be expected to think, write and speak about emerging technologies; assess their potential benefit for clients; and communicate insights in face-to-face settings to top executives at client companies.

 

This includes FTSE 100 companies, multinational R&D organisations and government agencies, who engage our client for insight and strategic advice to help them remain at the forefront of next-generation technology. 

Managing Client Relations  

  • Manage client relationships at a strategic level, acting as the primary account lead for CTOs, Chief Scientists, Corporate Venture Executives and Technology Scouts
  • Scope, plan and manage consulting projects, translating client business requirements into outcomes and, ultimately, holding the authority to release final deliverables to clients
  • Lead strategic planning and financial management of key accounts

Client services

  • Help develop and nurture a globally distributed workforce comprising technical subject-matter experts from world-leading research labs, startups and universities
  • Edit, critique and quality control written research reports and presentations, including creative visual depictions of data and ideas
  • Conduct client workshops, including facilitation and delivery of keynote presentations
  • Support client services with best practice analytical frameworks, methodology and tools for mapping, tracking and forecasting trends relating to emerging technologies within Defence & Aerospace

Business development and capability building

  • Research and build relationships with new clients
  • Develop proposals that speak to client needs, concerns and objectives
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service

Innovate Products and Services

  • Innovate in the development of new client offerings, built on the use of latest digital technology, crowdsourcing methodology and automation of knowledge-based work
  • Establish a presence as an influential speaker and thinker at conferences, among public sector institutions and industry associations, and in the press

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five years industry experience in management consulting, market research, or industrial R&D focused on Defence & Aerospace. The successful candidate will have held a professional services position (e.g. consulting, technology intelligence)
  • Previous experience managing a team 
  • A solid record of academic achievement in a STEM (science, engineering, technology or maths) related discipline. Master’s degree or PhD preferred; MBA is a plus
  • Knowledgeable of latest tools and best practice methodologies for technology analysis 
  • Exceptional client management skills; superior writing, listening, and presentation skills
  • Experience in making critical business recommendations about emerging technologies
  • Highly analytical with excellent quantitative and qualitative decision making capabilities; ability to forecast trends and to develop and test research hypotheses
