Research Analyst - Law

A US law firm with an Information team that is spread across London, Paris and the US has a requirement for a Research Analyst to join their team. This role will be joining a team of 5 and is a position that is entirely focused around the provision of legal and business research that is both enquiry-led and agenda driven to support functions such as Business Development and Marketing. 

In this role, the successful applicant will have the following objectives and responsibilities:

  • The provision of both legal and business research in conjunction with requests from Lawyers or other stakeholders
  • Undertaking research projects under the direction of the Research Services Lead and the Lead for Competitive Intelligence research
  • Outputs are likely to include the provision of information, reports and occasional thought pieces - particularly on the business research side of the role
  • Utilise a mix of hard-copy and electronic resources, some acquisitions and collections development, work and the management of a budget for resources
  • Being a subject matter expert for research services and to provide training where required for those that need it
  • Providing an administrative service, particularly around billable time
  • Engaging with the wider firm to promote the research services function

Suitable candidates for this Research Analyst role will need the following experience and skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar research based role, ideally gained in the legal sector or wider professional services setting
  • A qualification in Library and Information Science or Studies would be preferred, but candidates qualified by experience will be equally considered
  • Research experience will ideally cover both business and legal research
  • Strong communication and engagement skills, particularly with time-poor stakeholders 
  • Experience across a range of electronic and hard-copy resources
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities and stakeholders and strong problem solving skills
  • Highly developed administrative and organisational skills
