Part-time Information Services Officer – Law – Primarily Remote
A leading UK law firm has a 12 months fixed term contract opportunity for a part-time Information Services Officer. The firm is based in Southampton, but the role would require someone to be within a reasonable commute of one of their regional offices for some occasional on-site visits. This role will cover elements of enquiry work (legal and business), current awareness, supporting with training and the provision of library administration.
In this Information Services Officer role, the primary responsibilities include:
- Providing a research service for both business and legal enquiries
- Assisting in the provision of a current awareness service utilizing Manzama
- Supporting on the provision of training to new starters and established staff around research resources
- Cataloguing and supporting with collections management
- Assisting in wider Information Services related projects
To be a suitable candidate for this Information Services Officer requirement, you will need:
- Previous experience in a similar information services or library related role, ideally gained in law
- Experienced in legal research utilizing WestLaw, Lexis Nexis or Practical Law
- Strong library administration skills around collections and cataloguing
- A Library Science or related qualification would be extremely desirable
- Ideally some experience in the provision of a current awareness service
- Strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to managing conflicting priorities
- An ability to occasionally travel to one of the following office sites: London, Cardiff, Reading, Oxford and Southampton
