Competitive and Market Intelligence Manager - Law - New York, Washington DC or London
An extremely prestigious international law firm has a requirement for a leader in competitive and market intelligence to join their firm and assume a vital role in supporting the firms strategic initiatives and decision making through the provision and development of a multinational research, analysis and insight service.
The position is key in supporting business and market development strategy as well as supporting the firm in navigating the risks and opportunities presented by economic and geopolitical events. The position reports to the CKO and manages a globally dispersed team of research analysts, it can also be based from the firms New York, London or Washington DC offices.
The operational and strategic objectives of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and mentor a team of globally dispersed analysts and outsourced providers of research services for the US and EMEA regions
- Oversee the delivery of research outputs such as client briefings, industry/sector reports, insight and CI
- Partner with key stakeholder groups such as Business Development, Marketing and senior leadership to support and advise on strategic decision making
- Steer the proactive outputs of the team including agenda based competitor intelligence and market reports
- Building relations with other business functions such as IT and Finance to provide a coordinated approach to reporting and systems development
- Supporting the firm in the continued development of its data strategy with a focus on Knowledge Management and ROI
- Managing relationships with vendors and suppliers including an outsourced research provider
- Building a culture at team level that supports the firms core values as well as those of collaboration and a quest for continuous improvement
To be a suitable applicant for this Competitive and Market Intelligence Manager requirement, candidates will require the following:
- A demonstrable track record of providing research, business or competitor intelligence services in a legal, professional services or commercial setting
- Highly developed understanding of research outputs, methodologies and technology aligned to the provision of a research service
- Leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team, both at a local level and across borders
- An ability to manage and delegate projects, many of which might be running concurrently
- Capable of operating at a tactical and strategic level
- A detailed understanding of the relationship between research services and an overall KM strategy
- A strong focus on the use of technology, systems and data. This includes looking outwardly at industry/technology developments and the opportunities presented
- Highly developed interpersonal, relationship building and stakeholder management/influencing skills
- Ideally, experience working in a global and diverse working environment with a sensitivity to different cultural perspectives
