New role! Library Services Manager required by membership organisation. You will be responsible for the day to day operation and management of the firm’s Library Services and support staff in their work by ensuring easy access to the knowledge, information, and data they need, and appropriate training in its management and use.  You will also be responsible for the delivery of current awareness and enquiry services,  plan, develop, and deliver services which enhance the provision of information to staff, and be responsible for the selection, procurement, and dissemination of external online and print information resources. Interim/FTC until the end of 2024 with the potential to extend

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manages and develops the library and information service to actively support the information needs of staff
  • Works with the Information Governance Manager to review and develop information and library management strategies that support the firm’s business objectives
  • Produces and updates policies and procedures relating to Library Services
  • Develops and manages relationships with staff to ensure Library Services continue to meet the varied needs of the organisation
  • Keeps up to date with the firm’s priority work areas and major interests
  • Monitors and disseminates business critical information
  • Offers tailored current awareness services to staff by monitoring online resources and providing email alerts as appropriate
  • Responds to requests for information or resources from staff in a timely and efficient manner
  • Produces guidance and training on working with information sources for legal and business information topics
  • Advises on companywide policies and guidance for procurement and best use of external information (print and online)
  • Selects, evaluates, and procures print and online resources to meet the varied needs of different departments within the organisation
  • Manages supplier contracts and relationships ensuring that company policies, processes, and regulatory requirements are adhered to
  • Catalogues print and online resources, including the development and maintenance of an index of journal articles
  • Promotes the service through, for example, the development of the Library Services Intranet pages, news stories, attendance at Department meetings
  • Manages the work of the Library Services Assistant and other staff temporarily assigned to Library Services

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Information related qualification
  • Proven track record of implementation and management of a library service
  • Experience of using Intranet and other electronic information systems
  • Influencing and negotiating and relationship building experience
  • Experience of making presentations, producing reports, and conducting training sessions
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Budgetary management experience
  • Knowledge of health and legal sources and resources an advantage 

This role is offered either on an interim/FTC or permanent basis. Ideally starting immediately!   

This role can be remote but does require one day a month in London for a staff meeting and a week or two for onboarding.  Being within commuting distance of the London office would be advisable.
