Exciting times ahead!  An award winning top commercial law firm requires 2 x Knowledge Business Partners to work closely with the Knowledge Director to make the most of their combined knowledge and experience to deliver exceptional service to their clients. The firm has a new five year Knowledge Strategy to deliver. The Knowledge Business Partner is a new role within the firm and is responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of a knowledge plan for each allocated department. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in taking the firm to the next level. There will be plenty of opportunity to add value and to make a difference, for someone with excellent legal and technology knowhow, commercial nous, and gravitas to quickly build strong working relationships with key stakeholders.  This role can be located at any of the following locations: Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, or London. Flexible working is also offered.

Main responsibilities to include:

  • Provide shared resource to designated legal departments.
  • Regularly liaise with the Knowledge Partner within allocated departments and run a group of knowledge reps within each department to help shape knowledge initiatives and projects and to support the new role with  subject matter expertise.
  • Create a valuable bridge linking knowledge activities and expertise to positive change initiatives driven by colleagues within the transformation and business development teams developing content for clients.
  • Pro-actively partner and engage with departmental Knowledge Partners to ensure that they have access to high value, relevant knowledge resources, and systems.
  • Work closely with the Knowledge Director and Director of Transformation & Operations to help identify and drive improvements in legal service delivery for the firm.
  • Help shape and deliver each allocated department’s knowledge plan.
  • Be the first point of contact for allotted business areas for all knowledge related matters.
  • As a trusted adviser, use your expert knowledge and strategic awareness to give pragmatic, clear, and commercially balanced advice and guidance.
  • Lead and deliver both strategic and departmental knowledge projects.
  • Help to nurture the firm’s supportive and employee centric knowledge sharing culture in order to equip and develop the firm's most talented people.
  • Support the firm's annual appraisal and ongoing performance management processes related to knowledge.
  • Be the Knowledge Lead for one area of the firm’s key knowledge strategic work streams.
  • Support, coach, line manage, and mentor more junior team members as appropriate.

To be considered for this role you will need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of providing strategic input, working to a strategic plan, and delivering against it.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving knowledge sharing activities bringing together people, processes, and technology to deliver sustained improvements in working effectively.
  • Excellent practical knowledge and experience of legal technology combined with a good awareness of the market and likely future developments.
  • Demonstrable experience of taking a pro-active role in delivering fast-moving projects with change and project management expertise ideal.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing communication plans and the ability to present to large audiences.
  • Ability to quickly build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and across all levels of the business.
  • Significant legal experience working as a lawyer in practice or in-house with +4yrs post-qualification.
  • experience in either general commercial/corporate non-contentious work or general commercial litigation ideal.
  • Can draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement or behavioural change.
  • Commercially oriented with good business acumen.
  • Positive, results-focused and have a flexible approach; taking ownership of issues; and pro-active in terms of making improvements to processes.
  • As a member of a small team, you must be able to think strategically and also to execute at an operational level.
  • Applicants must have experience in working with fee-earning professionals within the legal sector.
