Business Researcher - Law / London 

A global law firm, and by revenues, probably one of the worlds largest, has a requirement within their Research function for a Researcher to join their team. The nature of the research in this role is predominantly non-legal and will support on a range of practice areas, topics and sectors including financial transactions. The position is one that sits within a dedicated team of 4 and would suit someone with some existing research exposure in a legal or professional services environment who is seeking to take their research skills to the next level. The position is London based, but offers a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in and 2 days working from home.

In this research role, the primary objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a research and enquiry service aligned to a wide variety of non-legal topics including transactions, litigation and IP
  • Operating as a member of a dedicated team of business researchers
  • Supporting lawyers with research tasks that can differ in complexity, topics and output requirements
  • Supporting in the evaluation and selection of electronic research resources
  • The provision of training to new starters including trainees on the use of research resources and engaging with research services
  • Undertaking wider library-orientated tasks such as collections management 
  • Supporting on departmental or wider knowledge, research and information services project work

To be a suitable candidate for this Business Researcher requirement, the following is required:

  • Previous experience of legal or business research within legal or professional services
  • Experience utilising a range of online research resources and databases
  • An ability to distil information from different sources into slide decks, reports or actionable insight 
  • The ability to select appropriate resources for research enquiries and to produce an appropriate format or platform for outputs and results
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities and challenging stakeholder engagements
  • A Library or Law qualification would be extremely beneficial, but candidates qualified by experience will be equally considered
