Business Researcher in Johannesburg, South Africa

Exciting Job Opportunity - business researcher for a consulting company that has offices all over the world. Your main job is to help the company's staff by providing them with research that is both timely and useful. This research will be used to for both business development and support fee earners in delivering client work by staying ahead of key issues and providing timely insight.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Clear Reports: You'll create short and interesting documents that highlight the most important messages and ideas that matter to clients.
  • Problem-Solving: You'll make plans and explain the ways to deal with complex issues that the company's clients and the business itself face.
  • New Business Support: You'll help the company's staff get ready for important meetings and proposals to win new business.
  • Competition Analysis: You'll study and compare the company's (and potential) clients and similar groups to see how they are doing.
  • Media Analysis: You'll look at both traditional and social media and see what people are saying about the company and its industry.
  • Trends Monitoring: You'll keep an eye on important issues and trends in the industry and areas the company works in.
  • Summarizing Documents: You'll read and simplify complex and technical documents like analyst reports, legal papers, and official filings.
  • Database Searches: You'll use research databases to find important information and put it in easy-to-use reports.
  • Data Analysis: This includes creating charts and other visuals to help understand the data better.
  • Staying Informed: You'll watch the news and see how it affects the company's clients.

In order to be suitable you will have experience as a business researcher or analyst within consulting, law or financial services. This role would suit candidates with 1-4 years of experience in a relevant position. Experience with business research databases such as (but not limited to) Bloomberg, Factiva and Mergermarket. This role will also involve social media analysis, an interest in social analytics or relevant experience is highly beneficial.
