TMT Research Analyst – Must speak mandarin

As part of a continued growth strategy into the China marketplace, a very successful market research and advisory firm that operates in the TMT space is seeking a research analyst with fluent Mandarin language skills. This role will require the successful applicant to work across a broad range of research projects (mainly primary research) aligned to TMT and will be responsible for considerable interaction with businesses and individuals located in mainland China.

The primary responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking research work across a broad spectrum of TMT projects, mainly B2B focused
  • Utilizing an existing network of contacts to conduct interviews and other primary research
  • Further developing relationships and networks within China
  • Producing outputs such reports and thought leadership pieces (in English)
  • Travel to China around 3 times per year and representing the firm at industry events in the US and Western Europe roughly once a year
  • Helping senior leadership in the development of the product offering in China

Suitable candidates will need to have the following skills and experience:

  • A fluent Mandarin speaker – will be assessed via interview
  • Experience as an Analyst with a focus on primary/qualitative research projects
  • Ideally, some experience within technology research, but a passion for technology and willingness to learn will also be equally considered
  • In addition to skills in qualitative research, strong skills with numbers (I.e. forecasting) would be highly desirable
  • Must be willing and able to travel – this could be for as much as 6 weeks per year
  • Strong communication, relationship building and telephone skills
  • Ideally a degree, but candidates qualified by experience will be equally considered
