Senior Information & Research Services Manager - Law 

This is a high‑profile role within a large, internationally recognised law firm, sitting within the global Knowledge function and working closely with senior stakeholders across legal and business services.
This firm is investing heavily in the evolution of its research and information capability and moving from a reactive service to one that is insight‑led, strategically aligned and increasingly AI‑enabled. This position plays a key role in enabling that transformation.

This role can be based out of Birmingham, London, Leeds, Manchester or Sheffield.

The key responsibilities and objectives of the Senior Information & Research Services Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the firm’s global Information & Research Services operating model, ensuring consistent quality, service levels and user experience across regions
  • Set and deliver the global research and information strategy aligned to firm priorities
  • Oversee delivery of legal, business and competitive intelligence research
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Partners and senior business stakeholders
  • Own research vendor strategy, including contracts, budgets, renewals, cost optimisation and ROI
  • Develop and lead a high‑performing, globally distributed information and research team
  • Embed research outputs into knowledge platforms and AI‑enabled tools
  • Establish governance, policies, service standards and KPIs
  • Drive training, capability building and greater self‑service research maturity
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement, working closely with Knowledge leadership and the CKO

To be a suitable candidate for this Senior Information Services and Research Manager role, a strong mix of the following is required:

  • Significant experience in legal information or research services
  • Strong leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing teams
  • Deep expertise in legal research tools and publications management
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, operating credibly at Partner and senior level
  • Commercial acumen, including vendor management, contract negotiation and budget ownership
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insight
  • Experience of AI and legal technology tools would be extremely advantageous
  • Experience in a global law firm or complex professional services environment is desirable
  • Professional qualification in Library or Information Science is desirable but not a pre-requisite
