A leading global provider of legal and business services is seeking an Information Officer (Resources / Acquisition) to join its information services team supporting a major international law firm.

This role sits at the heart of the research and information function and will focus on the management, evaluation, and optimisation of research resources and information tools, ensuring legal professionals have access to the most effective and relevant research materials. The successful candidate will work closely with the Information Manager and wider research team to support enquiry delivery, business intelligence, and business development activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management, evaluation, and acquisition of research resources and databases, including reviewing usage and identifying new tools or subscriptions.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers regarding information resources and subscriptions.
  • Respond to a broad range of legal and business research requests, from quick enquiries relating to cases, legislation, or company information to more detailed research projects.
  • Compile company, market, and sector reports using a variety of secondary research sources.
  • Conduct competitor and client targeting research to support business development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to lawyers and colleagues on self-service research tools and intranet resources.
  • Deliver business research and business intelligence inductions for new joiners.
  • Assist in managing the workflow of research enquiries and support the delivery of high-quality research outputs.
  • Maintain and update internal research processes, documentation, and intranet content where required.
  • Liaise with offshore research analysts and assist with coordinating research delivery where necessary.
  • Provide project support to the Information Manager and contribute to the continuous improvement of information services.
 

Skills & Experience Required

  • At least 4 years’ experience within an Information or Research Services environment, ideally within legal or professional services.
  • Proven experience conducting legal, business, or commercial research in a fast-paced enquiries environment.
  • Familiarity with legal and business research databases and commercial information resources.
  • Experience supporting the management or evaluation of research subscriptions and information tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business and economic information.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Information & Library Management, Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Good understanding of the legal or professional services sector is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of information resources, databases, and associated technologies.
