Senior Business Researcher – Law - Can be attached to Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham or Scotland
A highly respected UK law firm with has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Researcher to join its established Research function. The team plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality business, sector and competitive intelligence to support business development, firm‑wide strategic projects and client work.
You’ll be joining a collaborative group of researchers and knowledge professionals who work closely with stakeholders across the business, producing insights that help shape decisions and uncover commercial opportunities.
It is well-worth noting that this firm offers a considerable amount of flexibility with respect to hybrid working, but candidates will need to be within a reasonable commute from one of the listed locations.
In this Senior Business Researcher role, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading on complex business research projects, including scoping, assigning work and agreeing deliverables.
- Produce a full range of business, sector and market research, including company profiles and competitive intelligence.
- Work closely with Marketing, Business Development and Knowledge Lawyers to establish research needs.
- Supporting the Head of Research with strategic projects, business development activity and regular insight reporting.
- Contribute to the firm’s current awareness and horizon‑scanning programme when needed.
- Review and quality‑check research outputs for less experienced team members and operating as a mentor and SME
- Occasionally deputising for the Research Manager.
- Identify opportunities to improve research processes, templates and service delivery.
- Deliver training on research skills and research tools to maximise the value of firm resources.
- Act as a champion for Research, actively contributing to key projects and maintaining knowledge resources.
To be a suitable candidate for this Senior Business Researcher requirement, you will require a strong mix of the following:
- Significant experience delivering business research within a professional services environment
- A degree or equivalent experience in Business, Research, Information/Knowledge Management, Librarianship, or a related discipline
- Proven ability to run research projects end‑to‑end, managing expectations and timelines.
- Strong understanding of sector and market dynamics with the ability to translate information into clear, actionable insights.
- The ability to pivot across a diverse range of topics, sectors and industries
- Confidence using a wide range of research databases, tools and emerging technologies.
- The ability to produce high‑quality written outputs, including reports, summaries, presentations and data‑driven insights.
- The presence and credibility to act as a trusted adviser on business research across the firm
