Research Assistant, global law firm

Hot off the press! Research Assistant required by well regarded global law firm to scope and develop insightful research which informs decision making and contributes effectively to strategic planning and go-to-market efforts. This role will work closely with the Global Research Lead and Research Manager to support the Practice Development research strategy and associated products and services. This role is offered as a one year contract with the potential of becoming permanent.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Undertake and synthesise client and company research into insightful outputs using a range of internal and external information sources, specialised tools and market data
  • Collaborate with outsourced research agency support to deliver Client Briefs to Partners
  • Develop and deliver research products that take into account local requirements and preferences whilst retaining a common and global approach
  • Assist with the day-to-day intake of requests for client, company and industry research
  • Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact with regard to research
  • Help maintain quality standards for research outputs and deliverables
  • Work with the Research Manager and other Practice Development team members to ensure products such as Client Briefs remain aligned with wider firm's strategy
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Research and Competitive Intelligence team

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience: 

  • Degree required and ideally an information related qualification
  • Evidence of delivering business research and information in a commercial organisation
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a business research or similar post-graduate role
  • Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into relevant research projects, products and services
  • Confident in scoping requests effectively
  • Understanding of, and growing ability to use, both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Baseline knowledge of effective business writing and structured thinking methodologies
  • Focused on drawing commercial linkages between the research undertaken and the firm’s opportunities
  • Good understanding of the critical success criteria for a high-quality research function
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers across practice areas and regions
