Research and Insight Manager - Law - London 

A global law firm is seeking a Research and Insight Manager to join a research function that supports Business Development. This role is central to delivering high-quality client and market intelligence that supports strategic decision-making across all practice areas. Working closely with partners and colleagues, the successful candidate will contribute to initiatives that shape firmwide strategy and drive client engagement.

Key responsibilities include identifying market trends, uncovering business development opportunities, and producing insight-led research reports and presentations. The role also involves collaboration across multiple teams within the Commercial function, including Marketing, Client Development and Communications:

The specific objectives and responsibilities of this Research and Insight Manager role include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysing sector and practice area trends to produce concise, insight-led reports and supporting key publications such as the Horizon Scanning series.
  • Providing analytical input across the Commercial function, including ROI analysis and data visualisation that highlight performance and strategic impact.
  • Delivering data and insight to support strategic planning, including materials used by senior leadership and the Board.
  • Identifying emerging client opportunities through short, issue-led research outputs and proactive idea sharing within the team.
  • Enhancing the research function by adopting new platforms, technologies (including AI), and innovative delivery methods.
  • Evaluating new research tools and products to strengthen the team’s capabilities and output.

To be a suitable candidate for this Research and Insight Manager role, you will require the following experience and skills:

  • Considerable experience in an insight driven research role in a legal or professional services setting
  • Experience across a variety of platforms such as S&P Capital IQ, MergerMarket, Bloomberg, and PitchBook
  • An ability to distil both information and datasets into actionable insight, visuals, reports or recommendations
  • Previous experience or a demonstrable ability to create dashboards, ideally using PowerBI
  • Previous experience exploring or incorporating AI tools and platforms would be extremely beneficial 
  • Highly refined communication, relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • An ability to manage conflicting priorities and stakeholder needs
