An international law firm with a particularly strong reputation for innovation is looking for a proactive Research & Current Awareness Advisor to join its global Research & Business Intelligence function on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a great opportunity for an information professional from legal or wider professional services to contribute to a highly respected team and to work at the intersection of legal research and current awareness.
The position can be based in either London or Glasgow, and offers a hybrid working pattern where staff are typically on site 2-3 days per week.

The primary responsibilities and objectives of the role include, but are not limite to:

  • Deliver high‑quality research (business and legal) across a wide range of practice areas and sectors.
  • Lead and maintain current awareness activity, ensuring colleagues are kept informed of key legal, regulatory, and market‑wide developments.
  • Curate, refine, and distribute insights in ways that support lawyers and business services teams
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the firm, building strong relationships with users, subject specialists, IT teams, and external suppliers.
  • Explore and utilise emerging technologies including generative AI and digital tools
  • Contribute to global knowledge‑sharing initiatives within a collaborative, supportive team and spanning multiple jurisdictions.

To be a suitable candidate for this role, you will need to demonstrate a strong mix of the following:

  • A professional qualification in Information Science or a related discipline. Additional qualifications in law, library science, or knowledge management are a bonus.
  • Previous experience in legal research, current awareness, or a similar information-focused role within a law firm, legal environment, or wider professional services setting.
  • Strong familiarity with legal and business research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, Practical Law and wider business research resources.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams including subject experts, IT, suppliers, and end users.
  • An interest in digital tools and generative AI, with the curiosity and capability to apply new technologies to enhance current awareness delivery.

Why this role?

  • You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative global team that plays a central role in knowledge delivery across the firm
  • If you’re motivated, detail‑driven, and excited by the blend of research, insight, and tech‑enabled information delivery, this contract could be an excellent next step
  • Although this role is a fixed term contract, it would be an outstanding opportunity for someone to bridge into the legal sector and to gain a considerable amount of experience in a busy and very much, a forward thinking legal firm.
