Research Analyst - Law - London

A very longstanding and successful law firm that is based out of London has a new requirement for a Research Analyst. This role has arisen as part of a wider initiative within the firm to build it's first Knowledge Management function. The primary objective of the role is to work with the Knowledge team, BD/Marketing team and fee-earners to provide strategic research and insights on sectors, individuals, prospects, markets, and competitors. It will work very closely with the firms newly appointed Knowledge Manager and will play a key role in setting up this research service in the firm. It is a role that will likely suit an information or knowledge professional with strong business research skills and a desire to build their skills in more complex research tasks and outputs. It's anticipated that the person will join the firm at the beginning of Q2 2026.

In this Research Analyst role the specific responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide tailored insights and briefings for client meetings, pitches, and strategic planning
  • Develop and manage a current awareness service with curated news and regulatory updates
  • Analyse client and revenue data to identify growth areas and support insight dashboard development
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking to guide strategic positioning
  • Recommend event themes and agendas based on market and client insights
  • Collaborate with Knowledge, BD, and fee-earners to create scalable knowledge and client insight tools

To be a suitable candidate for this Research Analyst role, candidates require a strong mix of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar Research, Information Services or Knowledge Management role with refined business research skills
  • Experience using buisness research resources such as CapitalIQ, Orbis, Pitchbook or similar
  • An ability to distil information and data into actionable insight and outputs, or an aptitude for doing so
  • The ability to support in wider aspects of running a research and information service including current awareness, resource management and horizon scanning
  • Highly developed communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines as and when required
  • Pro-active, solutions-oriented approach and ability to use initiative intelligently, including knowing when to seek advice
  • A related degree or post graduate level education such as Library Science, Information Science or Law is desirable
