A global law firm based in central London is looking for a part time library assistant to start ASAP for 4 weeks initially with the possibility of an extension. They would prefer someone who can work 4 hours per day, five days per week but they may consider other working patterns.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Completing loans and returns of books on automated library management system (LMS)

  • Shelving new and returned books and journals

  • General tidying of the library space.

  • Identifying missing or damaged items.

  • Helping resolve queries on library collections.

  • Archiving or weeding old materials

  • Supervising the work of a loose-leaf filer.

  • Organising binding of journal issues and book repairs.

  • Receiving journals and entering them into the LMS, labelling and distribution.

  • Updating and data cleansing records in the LMS.

To be considered for this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in working in a library is essential, preferably in a corporate environment.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Effective time management and the ability to work largely unsupervised.

  • A quick learner with common sense and able to communicate effectively within a team environment.

  • Liaising with colleagues in other locations.

  • A professional attitude.

  • Good IT skills including email and MS Office applications, preferably with experience of using online systems.
