Law Librarian - Global Law Firm - London
A global law firm that has a UK base in Central London has a requirement for a Librarian. This role would be joining a team of around 5 and supports their operations in the UK, Europe and Middle East. The position has a broad remit of responsibilities that includes legal and business research, current awareness, training and resource adminstration and management. The team is one that is very longstanding and with the capacity to help someone grow into the role, but equally someone with a considerable experience would be viewed as an asset. Within the Library function, the team typically work 3 days on site and 2 days from home.
The primary responsibilities and objectives in the role include, but are not limited to:
- Providing a legal and business research service to lawyers in the UK, Europe and the Middle East
- Supporting on the production of current awareness and news alerts
- The provision of training on library usage and research methods to new starters and established staff
- Playing a role in the ongoing adoption of AI such as best practice, training and operating within the guidelines of the firm
- Managing and administering the research resources and subsriptions within the library function
- Ensuring that the SharePoint intranet and other KM specific and library systems are updated
To be a suitable candidate for this Law Librarian role, a strong mix of the following is required:
- Ideally, at least a couple of couple of years of similar experience gained in a legal or professional services information setting
- Strong business and legal research skills using Lexis, Westlaw and commercial research databases
- Some experience providing current awareness and new bulletin services would be extremely beneficial
- Highly organised and an ability to manage conflicting priortities and stakeholder needs
- Refined communication and relationship building skills
- Ideally, you will possess a Library Science related qualification
