Newly created role! A leading European private equity investor requires a Knowledge Manager (Senior Manager level) to support their Portfolio Team (PT) in best practice, content and knowledge management of all IP relating to the PT.  The role will support the firm’s ability to deliver outstanding results for portfolio companies by leveraging the existing internal and external IP, and by implementing practical knowledge management processes which will provide insights and increase effectiveness across the PT. The firm is a learning organisation always seeking to improve their processes and working through their challenges collaboratively to drive value creation.  

Specific Responsibilities include

Facilitate and drive insights from partnership work, and drive effective knowledge sharing within the team (focussed, useful, insightful):

  • Extract insights and share key learnings across the team from portfolio work the firm has completed (including major projects involving external support, repeatable areas of value creation)
  • Create case studies to support fund raising, origination, partnership on-boarding 
  • Deepen the team’s understanding and appreciation of value creation topics so they are more effective in their work, with a focus on execution
  • Research and codify, in a pragmatic but effective way, new areas of repeatable value creation as they emerge (e.g. Tech)
  • Support the team in finding high quality external advisers / consultants
  • Share best practice tools and methodologies
  • Drive continuous improvements across the partnership team
  • Facilitate the team's inhouse learning sessions
  • Support the team in their IT needs
  • Maintain and continue to improve the “Hub”, the document management system, and other useful tools, working with IT to support the team 
  • Support leadership to track / monitor key metrics and KPIs 
  • Facilitate workshops (alongside Leads) with portfolio management / teams around selected topics (e.g. driving better sales, instilling a high-performance organisation).  Build industry leading events for the team and executives from portfolio companies that showcase best in class content and speakers appropriate for the challenges of mid-market firms within the portfolio. 

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience

  • Strong educational background / top tier academic
  • Currently working in a strategy consultancy or big 4 environment (essential)
  • Self-starter, creative thinker, ideas generator with vision
  • Good business sense combined with structured problem-solving and strong analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently, able to prioritise and adjust tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with limited day to day management
  • Attentive to detail and organised
  • Experience building credibility and engagement with a senior audience
  • Collaborative and resilient team member 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, i.e. ability to engage and lead a discussion with senior business executives within the firm as well as portfolio company executives
  • Motivated by being in a “supporting” function and delivering for a wider team
  • Capable of creating a new role within the PT but supporting the knowledge development across the firm on a wider basis by collaborating with other teams e.g. Insights, Finance
