Newly created role! A leading European private equity investor requires a Knowledge Manager (Director level) to support their Portfolio Team (PT) in best practice, content and knowledge management of all IP relating to the PT.  The role will support the firm’s ability to deliver outstanding results for portfolio companies by leveraging the existing internal and external IP, and by implementing practical knowledge management processes which will provide insights and increase effectiveness across the PT. The firm is a learning organisation always seeking to improve their processes and working through their challenges collaboratively to drive value creation.  This role requires someone who is highly analytical and has worked within financial performance and analysis (FP&A).

Specific Responsibilities include

  • Work with senior stakeholders in the PT to understand team assignments and solicit most relevant content and information to;

                Extract learnings from portfolio companies 

                Drive continuous improvements in the knowledge base

                Codify what is best practice in key areas such as operations, key account management, pricing, 

                sales & marketing, ROI on spend

  • Lead PT inhouse learning sessions which capture and share the PT’s knowledge and functional best practice
  • In conjunction with PT’s leadership, identify and drive new knowledge creation in areas that will enhance the capabilities of the team and drive step change and rapid value creation for portfolio companies
  • Lead workshops (alongside partnership Leads) with portfolio management around selected topics (e.g. driving better sales, instilling a high-performance organisation)
  • Design and lead company-wide offsites (e.g. Digital, Data analytics)
  • Build industry leading events for the team and executives from portfolio companies that showcase best in class content and speakers appropriate for the challenges of mid-market firms within the portfolio
  • Oversee and support the team’s daily use of SharePoint
  • Build a series of ‘best practice’ templates driving standardisation and consistency across the team activity
  • Oversee capture and on-going analysis of the PT’s spend and maintain active KPIs

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and exerience

  • Strong educational background / top tier academic
  • Self-starter, creative thinker, ideas generator with vision
  • Good business sense combined with structured problem-solving and strong analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently, able to prioritise and adjust tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with limited day to day management
  • Attentive to detail and organised
  • Experience building credibility and engagement with a senior audience
  • Collaborative and resilient team member 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, i.e. ability to engage and lead a discussion with senior business executives within the firm as well as portfolio company executives
  • Motivated by being in a “supporting” function and delivering for a wider team
  • Capable of creating a new role within the PT but supporting the knowledge development across the firm on a wider basis by collaborating with other teams e.g.Insights, Finance
