Knowledge Management Consultant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a high-impact KM consulting arm of a global firm. It is a role working primarily across the legal sector, but with increasing engagements in wider professional services and corporate environments. The role has arisen due to sustained client growth in the UK, driven by strong demand from law firms seeking strategic expertise in knowledge management, intranet design, collaboration platforms, and other innovation initiatives where there is a KM touch point.

The ideal candidate is likely to be a senior knowledge management professional with an appreciation of the challenges in KM faced by professional and legal services. It is a role that is likely to appeal to someone seeking greater influence, autonomy, and client-facing impact beyond traditional in-house roles. Prior consulting experience isn’t essential, but consulting aptitude is critical — including stakeholder engagement, solution design, and simplifying complexity. You’ll be joining a small UK team and learning from a highly respected thought leader in legal and professional services KM. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects that blend strategy, technology, and innovation.

The primary responsibilities and objectives in this Knowledge Management Consultant role include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering strategic KM consulting projects primarily to law firms, with growing work across professional services and corporate clients
  • Leading on diagnostics across technology, process, people, and organisational readiness
  • Translating findings into actionable roadmaps, including vendor recommendations and implementation strategies
  • Supporting the delivery of KM platforms (e.g. intranets, enterprise search, collaboration tools)
  • Engaging with stakeholders at all levels to drive change, adoption, and alignment
  • Contributing to client relationship development through insight and trust-building
  • Collaborating with global colleagues and draw on wider firm resources as needed
  • Work independently and flexibly across remote and client-site engagements

To be a suitable applicant for this Knowledge Management Consultant role, the following will be required:

  • Strong background in Knowledge Management from within professional services and preferably an appreciation of the KM challenges of legal environments
  • Familiarity with KM technologies and platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365, intranets, search, collaboration tools)
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to manage change-resistant stakeholders and distil complex ideas clearly
  • Strategic mindset with a passion for innovation, AI, and the evolving future of knowledge work
  • Comfortable working with autonomy in a client-facing, delivery-focused role
  • Motivated by the opportunity to influence multiple organisations and escape internal limitations
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus, but not essential
