A public sector body working with the voluntary and community sector is looking for a Knowledge and Learning Officer to start immediately until end of March 2020. This role can be based in either London or Birmingham.

The role involves:

  • Gathering information on our funding from a wide range of sources including intranet, websites, folders and colleagues
  • Uploading knowledge and learning documents to our document libraries applying relevant metadata and keywords
  • Developing and implementing metadata standards for cataloguing evidence and learning from our funding  
  • Contributing to the development of document management systems and processes for the Knowledge Bank and Evidence Library  
  • Providing concise summaries of reports, briefings and evaluations
  • Implementing and maintaining cataloguing standards to ensure consistency across document libraries (internal and external) and effective retrieval  
  • Contributing to the creation of a taxonomy to assist with the storage and retrieval of documents.
  • Supporting the Knowledge and Learning Team with other administrative tasks suitable for the role

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of information classification techniques including metadata, taxonomies or cataloguing  
  • Pragmatic with the ability to implement ‘good enough’ solutions at pace 
  • The ability to make sense of a range of information sources to provide concise summaries of information
  • An awareness of key issues of relevance to the voluntary and community sector, ability to effectively undertake subject analysis and term selection, that avoids bias and is accessible and comprehensible to a generalist audience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across teams that are diverse and geographically dispersed  
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and take personal responsibility for overcoming challenges and deliver to a fixed deadline
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of SharePoint and Office 365
