Junior Knowledge Officer - Law - London
A leading London based law firm, with a reputation for innovation, fostering collaboration and a sense of shared purpose among their team has a newly created requirement for a Junior Knowledge Officer. This role is one that's aligned to the firms work in Corporate and M&A, which is comprised of around 100 staff, and has a really broad remit of responsibilities and learning opportunities around KM, training, research, reporting and technology platforms aligned to KM. This is a role that could suit someone with some similar experience perhaps as a paralegal or junior within a Knowledge team, or equally it could suit someone seeking their first steps into knowledge and information career and thirst for a steep learning curve in a legal setting.
In the role, the Knowledge Officer will both learn and assume responsibility for the following:
- Knowledge Management: Collecting and organising internal know-how like precedents, legal advice, and presentations.
- Training Support: Helping plan and run training sessions, sharing materials, and suggesting future topics.
- Precedents: Assisting with drafting and updating standard documents and guidance notes.
- Legal Research: Carrying out research and helping fee-earners find and use legal resources.
- Current Awareness: Supporting newsletters and bulletins with legal updates and insights.
- Deal Debriefs: Gathering insights and data from completed deals to improve internal knowledge and client materials.
- Document Automation: Promoting and maintaining automated templates and forms.
- Legal Tech & Resources: Testing new legal tech tools and information resources with internal teams.
To be a suitable candidate for this Junior Knowledge Officer role, a strong mix of the following skills and experience is required:
- Some previous experience, or a theoretical understanding of the concept of Knowledge Management and it's application in a legal or commercial setting
- A strong academic background and a related qualification such as Law, Libraries or Information Management
- A demonstrable interest in working in KM/Information services in a legal setting
- An ability to thrive in an environment that offers the challenge of a steep learning curve
- Refined communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
- Strong IT skills and the ability to quickly grasp new technology and systems
