Information Services Manager - Law - London Full or Part-Time

A highly respected professional services firm with an outstanding reputation in the intellectual property sector is looking to appoint an Information Services Manager to join its established Knowledge team.

This role presents an opportunity to take ownership of the information service within a specialist, knowledge-driven environment. The role works closely with fee earners and knowledge professionals, and plays a key role in supporting research, managing information resources, delivering current awareness services and helping the firm maximise the value of its knowledge assets. 

This position would suit an experienced law librarian, information professional or research specialist who enjoys working directly with stakeholders and combining hands-on delivery with service development.

The primary responsibilities and objectives of the Information Services Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the firm's library and information services function.
  • Providing legal, business, technical and scientific research support.
  • Managing online information resources, subscriptions and supplier relationships.
  • Negotiating renewals and evaluating new research products and services.
  • Monitoring resource expenditure and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintaining specialist case tracking resources.
  • Delivering training on research tools and information resources.
  • Supporting induction programmes and promoting available services.
  • Managing current awareness alerts and monitoring services.
  • Maintaining information-related content on the firm's intranet.
  • Advising on information management best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting AI-related research initiatives, guidance and user training.
  • Managing copyright compliance and document supply services.
  • Overseeing a small print and physical information collection.

Suitable candidates for this Information Services Manager role will require a mix of the following:

  • Experience within a library, information, research or knowledge services function.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting professionals in a law firm, professional services or other knowledge-led environment.
  • Confidence working directly with senior users and subject matter experts.
  • Experience managing online research resources and subscriptions.
  • Strong research and information retrieval skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an ability to demonstrate value from information services.
  • Experience of legal research platforms and current awareness tools.
  • An interest in emerging technologies and AI-enabled research tools.
  • A proactive, self-motivated and service-focused approach.
