Head of Knowledge - Law - London
A UK law firm that is extremely highly regarded for their work on legal issues at the intersection of technology, science and innovation has a new requirement for a Head of Knowledge. This is a newly created role in the firm and the initial objectives are to design and establish the Knowledge function including processes, systems and culture and the longer term objectives being the establishment and delivery of a KM roadmap. The firm has an extremely well-established reputation for it's collaborative culture, and the size of the firm requires that the successful candidate is someone that is extremely comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and touch points. The role is one where there is considerable buy-in from senior leadership to support the development of KM within the firm.
In this Head of Knowledge role the following are the specific objectives and responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a firmwide Knowledge Management function and strategy.
- Embed a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Represent the firm at KM and legal innovation events.
- Develop client-facing knowledge products and services.
- Capture and leverage tacit knowledge to enhance client service and thought leadership.
- Review and develop the firms information services offering
- Lead KM technology strategy incorporating platforms such as iManage, SharePoint, and legal tech pilots
- Oversee KM systems selection, testing implementation, and optimisation.
- Build and manage a central knowledge repository with taxonomy and governance.
- Consolidate existing knowledge assets and document lifecycles.
- Drive change management
- Recruitment and management of further knowledge professionals such as PSL's
To be a suitable applicant for this role, candidates will require a strong mix of the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- Demonstrable leadership experience in KM and innovation within legal/professional services.
- Ideally, legally qualified or with strong legal practice understanding
- Experience delivering firmwide KM strategies and managing change.
- Skilled in KM technologies such as iManage, SharePoint, Contract Express
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
- Commercially astute with budget management experience.
- Organised, analytical, and a natural change agent with strategic vision.
- Experience in IP/Technology or Life Sciences would be extremely advantageous, but is not a pre-requisite
