Analyst - Competitive and Tactical Research - Law - London 

A Research Analyst is required by an international law firm to support in the provision of a research service that supports the firms business development activities and wider strategic objectives. This role is one in which the successful applicant will join a small but specialist team and will be the first point of contact for all research and insight requests. This position will be responsible for providing insight and analysis, distilling information into a digestible format and will work on both reactive requests and a pre-determined research agenda. It would be ideally suited to someone with some existing experience that is keen to develop their research and insight skills to a deeper level.

In this Research Analyst role the principal responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all competitive and tactical research requests
  • Working with more senior members of the team, with lawyers and other stakeholders to define the brief
  • Collect, disseminate and distil information from a range of sources into a digestible format and to add value through the provision of insight
  • Ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed around progress and timelines
  • Maintain quality standards around outputs and other deliverables
  • Service a mix of reactive research requests and proactive/agenda defined research
  • Working in partnership with multiple business functions including business development and the Library/Information Services team

To be a suitable candidate for this Research Analyst role, candidates will require the following:

  • Previous experience in a research / analysis role, ideally gained in a professional services setting
  • The ability to collect information from multiple sources and to distil this into actionable insight
  • The ability see the perspective of the requester and to shape outputs accordingly 
  • Well developed stakeholder engagement and management skills. This role will almost certainly interact with Partners
  • Strong organisational skills, attentive to the minor details and the ability to organise and prioritise tasks
  • Exposure to a number of industry standard research databases and tools
  • An ability to cope with a steep learning curve
  • Ideally, a related degree such as information management/science or research related topic
