We're running what we believe is the most comprehensive benchmarking survey on knowledge management operating models available right now — specifically for professional and legal services and financial services. This is rare. There's very little data out there on how knowledge functions are structured across these sectors, and the picture is changing fast.
We already have responses from the leadership of knowledge and information functions across a genuinely impressive cross-section of organisations: boutique, mid-tier, and global strategy consultancies; global restructuring consultancies; the Big Four; Magic Circle, US, international, offshore, and national law firms; investment banks; and global accounting firms.
Leaders in our networks tell us their stakeholders are asking what good looks like and what other firms are doing in terms of their approach to knowledge and information services. This benchmark is designed to help respondents get a clearer picture of the various approaches firms are taking across sectors — covering how knowledge and information functions are structured, who they serve, and what's happening on the ground with AI adoption and shifting stakeholder expectations.
Why participate?
Every respondent receives a copy of the full report, including aggregated benchmarking data. All responses are confidential — nothing that identifies individuals or organisations will be published. And the more respondents we have, the richer and more useful the picture becomes for everyone.
This is also just the beginning. We will be conducting further benchmarking rounds with this group, and now is a great time to get involved and be part of an ongoing conversation about where this profession is heading.
We're able to reach this community because of who we are. With over a decade as a specialist recruiter in knowledge and information roles across professional, legal, and financial services, we have built deep networks across this space. We also run extensive networks and roundtables, and we are the team behind KIMRA Conference — the leading conference that brings this community together. We'll be presenting findings there this year, and respondents will have early access to the data ahead of those sessions.
If you lead a knowledge or information function in professional and legal services or financial services and want visibility of where the profession stands right now, this is the dataset you've been waiting for.
