Senior Sector Analyst (Energy)   International law firm

Just in! A well respected international law firm seeks a Senior Sector Analyst for their energy practice. You will be required to deliver high quality research and analysis of the firm's energy clients, target clients, and energy markets.  This high profile role will work with sector leadership and other support teams in that sector (e.g. Business Development, Practice Development Lawyers) to suggest and provide value added research that helps the firm stand out from the firm's competitors, grow profitably and win and retain clients.  This role can be based in any of the firm’s locations outside of London.  Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Birmingham.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Bringing a deep understanding of the Energy sector and working closely with that sector team to help them to increase their understanding of that sector
  • Keeping up to date with news, trends, and developments in the Energy sector, clients, and markets
  • Developing and promoting content, ideas, and solutions that help inform the sector strategy and create new client opportunities
  • Proactively identifying and delivering sector research and insight to inform and support the firm’s lawyers
  • Taking the lead on complex research projects and tasks
  • Analysing and interpreting both internally created and third party data sets to spot opportunities for services to new and existing clients
  • Originating and contributing to thought leadership in the firm
  • Delivering high quality, accurate, timely and cost effective business intelligence and research to the firm
  • Carrying out in-depth analysis on clients and producing reports
  • Working directly with clients to provide agreed value-added knowledge or research projects
  • Identifying, validating, and developing innovative research solutions that help the firm’s lawyers get the best results
  • Identifying relevant resources for use by the Research team or wider business, compiling business cases to secure funding for such resources
  • Creating templates that can be used by the Research team to address standard business research enquiries.

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in the Energy sector
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking research and analysis in the Energy sector, clients, and markets
  • Proactive approach to delivering research and analysis including a willingness to lead discussion and offer an informed opinion when required
  • Have the confidence to check and challenge the opinion of others
  • Business research and analysis experience gained in a professional services or financial services / consulting / investment environment
  • Excellent knowledge of available research applications and their relevance to the operations of the firm
  • Experience in designing and delivering training on online information products and research services
  • Familiarity with standard analytical models, research techniques, and report writing
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
