Leadership, Development, and Management! A leading global law firm requires a Senior Resource Manager to be responsible for a range of contracts for core products purchased globally and provide advice and guidance to colleagues. The post holder is responsible for all online budgets, for maintaining the firm’s contract database, and reporting on the department’s costs and income. The Senior Resource Manager works closely with Practice Librarians to negotiate and advise on legal issues and oversee online spend. This is a key position within the library, working closely with the Global Head. Responsible for the management of over 170+ online contracts, the library works independently within firm guidelines to mitigate risk, liaising closely with the In-House Legal and Finance teams. This exceptional role involves extensive analysis of the firm’s use of products, reporting on the income and costs of the department, and developing new approaches to suit their growing client base.

Main responsibilities include:

Providing leadership in the development of the management of online resources:

  • Undertaking a process of continuous improvement and evaluation of the contract and budgeting process to ensure efficiencies and transparency in respect of reporting
  • Overseeing the contract work of colleagues (Practice Librarians) to ensure compliance with guidance, ROI modelling, and cost allocation
  • Providing ongoing training and mentoring of Practice Librarians in the management of contracts
  • Developing and implementing the cost allocation policy of the function
  • Reporting on the functions savings, income, and value to the firm

Management of key vendor relationships:

  • Identifying opportunities for centralising contracts across the firm
  • Managing the global vendor relationships to address local and global needs of the firm
  • Establishing standard reporting from vendors
  • Supporting and advising colleagues in the management of local/Practice vendor relationships

Direct responsibility for cross jurisdictional contracts and local office contracts:

  • Establishing strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Implementation of, or management of, the trial and evaluation of products
  • Producing business cases and recommendations on purchases, allocation models, and future costs
  • Managing the ongoing promotion and evaluation of products
  • Developing and implementing future processes for the management of products using the appropriate Library resource
  • Completing all associated filing and reporting actions related to this work

Finance and budgeting responsibilities regarding online products and costs:

  • Key liaison with Finance for the correct allocation of costs and management of invoice issues
  • Continuously reviewing and improving allocation models
  • Managing and reporting on global budgets
  • Managing the online budgets for UK, Australia, South Africa and Hong Kong
  • Overseeing, maintaining, and developing of spreadsheets to facilitate effective reporting

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Expertise in the use of Excel (essential) and experience of using PowerBI (desirable)
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the information market, in particular, the evolution and development of online product agreements and pricing models
  • Extensive experience in a similar senior role within a commercial environment
  • Strong commercial acumen and expertise in the negotiation of legal terms and conditions for online products
  • Analytical and numerate; able to present and report data effectively
  • Ability to lead and influence others acting as a credible and effective mentor
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to navigate and manage sensitive situations
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
