Research Librarian - Law - Frankfurt or Munich - 2 Years FTC
One of the worlds largest and most successful multinational law firms has a 2 year fixed-term contract requirement for a Research Librarian to be based out of either Frankfurt or Munich. The focus of the role is around the provision of an enquiry-led research service to cover both legal and business research requests, but it will also be responsible for wider information services / library responsibilities such as the delivery of a current awareness service, the provision of training for lawyers and new starters on resources they have access to and the management/maintenance of the local library resources.
In this Research Librarian role, the primary objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The provision of a legal and business/non-legal enquiry service for German and other European-based lawyers
- The identification, collection and dissemination of legal updates, news and developments in the form of a current awareness service across multiple practice areas
- Training new-starters and existing stakeholders on the use of research resources and engaging with the firm to promote engagement with the library/research function
- Manage and administer the localized library environment including hard-copy and physical collections and vendor relationships
To be a suitable candidate for this Research Librarian requirement, the following experience and skills are essential:
- Previous experience in a similar Research Librarian or Information Services role, ideally gained in a legal or wider professional services environment
- Experience in the provision of both legal and non-legal/business research services
- Exposure to a wide range of common legal and non-legal research resources
- An ability to create and provide training on the use of research resources
- Previous experience producing news alerts, bulletins or current awareness across a range of topics or practice areas
- Strong library management skills including managing collections and materials, working with vendors and wider information management skills
- Ideally, a relevant library qualification. Please note that candidates qualified by experience will be equally considered
