Strategy and implementation! A highly regarded Private Equity firm requires a Knowledge Manager to build, develop and drive an effective knowledge management function by leveraging the collective expertise of the firm’s colleagues, breaking down knowledge siloes, and embedding a culture of knowledge sharing.  The successful person will ultimately help to drive productivity and increase efficiencies across the firm’s key processes. The firm is at the beginning of its knowledge management journey and therefore this role will be a mix of strategic direction setting, hands on implementation, and day to day systems management. At a strategy level, the Knowledge Manager will define the vision and direction for knowledge management and align that vision with the strategic goals of the wider firm.  On a daily system management level, the Knowledge Manager will be in charge of setting up and driving processes to support the creation, capture, and classification of knowledge as well as manage the IT system and architecture.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Create, get buy-in for, and roll out the firm’s knowledge management vision, strategy, and direction, based on an understanding of the firm’s key processes and firm strategy.
  • Management of technology tools, supporting content creation and capture, quality checks, curation, classification and tagging, storage, communication, and dissemination.
  • Establish repeatable processes and best practices for regular knowledge capture and sharing - designing and implementing strategies to encourage utilization and improve ease of use of the firm’s knowledge sharing tools.
  • Engage in a dialogue with stakeholders at every level to identify content for gaps, elevate and escalate as required to get more traction from the business.
  • Working with senior leaders to ensure cultural commitment to knowledge management.
  • Plan and advise on the IT infrastructure required for an effective knowledge management system.
  • Regularly evaluate effectiveness and measure success of knowledge programmes through success KPIs
  • Create and implement a training programme on knowledge capture.
  • Closely monitor security of data and IP, GDPR regulations, and internal/external rules around information asset management

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Robust understanding of knowledge management approaches and their application, paired with the ability to articulate the value they bring to the business and drive buy-in and sponsorship.
  • Deep understanding of knowledge infrastructure and relevant technology (including Office 365 environment)
  • Related program and change management experience (preferably within a professional services firm)
  • A willingness to be hands on, self-motivated, and able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Confidence and gravitas to own this function and inspire usage by being the firm’s Knowledge Management Ambassador
  • Be a strategic thinker with good business sense and with the ability to match knowledge management initiatives with the firm’s future needs.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and able to work effectively with a number of different functions, including senior stakeholders.
  • Expert proficiency in MS SharePoint and PowerPoint, producing visually appealing, high impact and professional documentation and graphics.
  • Technically skilled with the ability to problem solve and think creatively to find solutions and identify best practice.
  • Quick learner with a desire to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and meet short deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Experience within a professional services firm
