Librarian
A high-net-worth individual with residences across the UK, Spain and the Middle East including Saudi Arabia would like to appoint an experienced professional Librarian to their household staff.
This individual has a passion for reading and education and maintains a large collection across their properties. They have worked with professional librarians within academia in the past and would like to bring a professional into their household staff.
This is an exciting opportunity for a librarian with a passion for a wide range of topics including but not limited to history, current affairs, finance, philosophy, health, environment, science and business.
The first task for the successful candidate will be cataloguing and organising the existing collections. There may be some limited travel involved to the various residences as part of this work.
You will also be responsible for researching acquisitions as well as curating the reading lists. As the position evolves you will also be responsible responding to information and research requests on subjects of interest to the household.
About you:
- Professionally trained librarian
- Passionate about the libraries and information sector
- Experience supporting readers and users in a wide variety of topics
- The ability to travel internationally to Spain and sometimes to the Middle East when required (this is not expected to be more than a handful of times a year)
Hours are expected to be full time 9 - 5 Monday - Friday however from time to time some flexibility will be required to work within the schedule of the family. As with all small organisations this brief cannot be prescriptive and other tasks related to the library may be required.
The interview process will be a first interview with the head of the household staff followed by a second interview with the employer.
