A global law firm seeks a Legal Training Advisor to join their Knowledge Management team located in London. The successful person will support the Legal Training & Development Manager in identifying, creating, and facilitating the delivery of effective, innovative training solutions to meet the needs of the firm.  You will work across all practice area teams to identify and understand their legal technical training needs both in terms of continuing competency and those unique to the firms’ requirements.  You will also be required to identify and build successful commercial relationships with external training providers for the development and maintenance of an on-going high-quality training programme.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Support the Legal Training & Development Manager in working with lawyers at all levels to identify their current and future legal training needs.
  • Maintain awareness of, and monitor significant legal, procedural, and industry/sector developments.
  • Liaise with and build lasting relationships with external training providers.
  • Oversee and take responsibility for arranging training sessions both online and in person.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning & Development and IT teams to facilitate the development of appropriate training for lawyers.
  • Positively contribute to the development of UK Legal Training & Development service as centre of best practice, providing models/guidance for how legal training can be best delivered.
  • Have an understanding and awareness of Continuing Competence requirements for England & Wales legally qualified professionals.

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the legal services industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of being a strong team player.
  • Experience of working with external providers/suppliers and managing commercial relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with people at all levels throughout the firm.
  • Excellent and concise oral and written communication skills with the ability to build credibility and relationships quickly.
  • Excellent listening skills and a strong ability to show empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Ability to influence senior and key stakeholders.
  • Good IT skills - strong command of the MS Office suite.
  • Enthusiasm for technology as an innovative means of delivering training.
  • Experience of working in a project management/change based culture desirable.
  • Experience of working within Learning & Development at a law firm or other regulated professional services provider desirable.
