Legal Solutions Engineer Contract Express Document Automation

Our client is a prestigious international law firm with an exciting opportunity for a Legal Solutions Engineer with ContractExpress experience to join their growing team.

Working as part of the Innovation team to deliver automation to an internal audience and support the delivery of selected services to clients.  The Automation team forms part of Innovation Solutions, and provides services covering Document Automation and Expert Systems.  This role will focus primarily on delivering Document Automation services using Contract Express to automate internal documents (approx. 50-75% of time), with a growing involvement in developing automated client facing expert systems as part of the firm’s wider automation strategy and supporting other innovative technology solutions as determined by the Innovation team.

 

This is a great opportunity to showcase existing skills and develop a new set of skills which are in high and growing demand across the legal industry. You will be working with a high-energy team focused on delivering a firm-wide automation strategy and will work closely with the Cubed and Knowledge Management teams as part of Service Delivery Transformation initiatives across the firm.

 

Key responsibilities:         

  • Automation of single or multiple documents, publishing these via a dynamic online questionnaire.
  • Application of logic and rules to ensure that fee earners documents are produced with the correct content and formatting.
  • Ensuring all templates adhere to consistent approach to automation (naming conventions etc. and all templates and output documents are in house style).
  • Maintenance of existing automated documents.
  • Assistance with Neota Logic applications and other expert systems for decision-making automation.
  • Assistance with designing HighQ Collaboration portals, where appropriate, to host client-specific or practice-specific expert systems and document automation tools.
  • Assistance in Kira AI/Machine Learning projects, including clause extraction projects, working with the Knowledge Management team as appropriate.
  • Assistance with horizon scanning for new innovations that incorporate expert systems and automation.

Experience and knowledge        

Essential:

  • Experience of automating documents using Contract Express, preferably gained in a law firm (or legal department)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (2010 preferred), particularly Word and house style applications
  • An understanding of the structure, complexity and organisation of legal documents (e.g. contracts)
  • A keen interest in the future direction of legal technology systems
  • Enthusiasm for all forms of legal automation and a pride in the quality of the output from the system

Desirable:

  • Strong broad IT skills
  • Experience of working in a law firm
  • Legal training and qualifications
