Knowledge Systems Assistant - Law

A magic circle law firm with it's HQ in the City of London has a new and exciting requirement for a Knowledge Systems Assistant to join their Knowledge Management function and play a key role in the support, development and continuous improvement of their KM Systems capability. This is a role that would be ideally suited to someone at the start of their career that has interests in law, technology and data, and enjoys the challenge of solving problems and engaging with stakeholders. Initially this is a 12 month fixed term contract, but a successful candidate that can demonstrate their ability to add value will almost certainly be retained. It is anticipated that the first 3 months will most likely involve a sizeable percentage of learning and development in the role

In this role, the key responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • The support and development of a variety of KM tools and systems such as DMS (document management systems), matter security and enterprise search tools
  • Assisting in a number of planned and ongoing projects such as a DMS upgrade, building a drafting tool, an enterprise search upgrade and the potential adoption of RAVN
  • Extracting data, using that data to tell stories and create reports utilising tools such as Power BI
  • Interacting with stakeholders across the firm to provide support, training and to encourage engagement with KM tools
  • Process and record checking for document management systems and matter security
  • Working in a team of 5 and in partnership with functions including research, innovation/legal technology and business development
  • Seeking out opportunities where KM Systems can add value and further contribute to the firms wider strategic objectives
  • Candidates without prior experience can expect to undertake considerable training and development in the first few months

To be a suitable candidate for this role, the successful applicant will need to have the following:

  • Experience working with systems or data gained in a commercial environment, ideally something similar to law but this isn't essential
  • An interest in the use of technology or information science in a professional services setting and the use of data to tell stories, some Power BI or similar experience would be highly desirable
  • The ability to build relationships with stakeholders and overcome challenging stakeholder engagements
  • A degree in a related subject such as Information Systems, Information Science or Information Management would be extremely desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be extremely useful, but is by no means an essential requirement
