Knowledge Assistant – Would suit a Library Science Graduate – Law    

An international law firm with a UK office in Central London has a requirement for a Knowledge Assistant to join their Knowledge and Information team, which globally is comprised of approximately 10. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is seeking to make their first steps into an information career in the legal profession. It is a role that provides support for the creation and maintenance of the firm’s precedents and internal knowledge documents

The primary objectives and responsibilities of the Knowledge Assistant include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Lawyers and stakeholder with the collation, creation and amendments to precedent and standard form Word documents ensuring that they conform to firm-wide standards and house style
  • Maintaining lists of precedents and ensuring that they are accurate and up to date
  • Preparing documents for amendment by authors and maintaining master copies
  • Working with the external editors and internal authors regarding the publication updates and proof reading
  • Updating the firm’s internal versions of the precedent documents and ensuring that all documents are available on the firm’s intranet and knowledge portals
  • Creating and maintaining Library and Knowledge intranet pages ensuring that they are up to date.
  • Organising monthly UK Knowhow meeting, including organising agendas and note-taking
  • Assisting the wider Knowledge and Information team with administrative tasks

To be a suitable candidate for this Knowledge Assistant role, candidates will require the following:

  • A passion for working within the Libraries and Information function of a law firm
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and team members
  • A really strong understanding of MS Office, in particular MS Word, and ideally MS Excel too
  • Extremely attentive to minor details and the ability to organize and priortise tasks
  • A Library qualification would be really helpful, but is not a pre-requisite
