Knowledge and Information Specialist - Law - Edinburgh

A leading international law firm with multiple UK locations has a requirement for a Knowledge and Information Specialist to be based out of their Edinburgh site. This role is a mix of both research and knowledge management responsibility and will be joining a large team of information professionals who are geographically dispersed across the UK, but with the focus being to provide frontline support to lawyers and stakeholders based in the Scotland region. 

In this Knowledge and Information specialist role the objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a first point of contact and knowledge services expertise to all PSL's and stakeholders in the Scottish region
  • Engage with localised stakeholders and elements of the firm to drive engagement and awareness of Knowledge and Information Services
  • Provide legal and business research services as part of a centralised team
  • Maintenance and management of hardcopy collections and the libraries in multiple local offices
  • Supporting the development of the firms KM and Know-how capabilities via the capture and classification of information
  • The provision of training to new starters and assisting in the development of a self-service culture
  • Contributing to the firms current awareness output

To be a suitable candidate for this Knowledge and Information Specialist role, candidates require the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar Information Officer, knowledge management or information professional role within a legal of professional services setting
  • A library or information science qualification
  • Extensive experience of wide range of legal data sources both hard copy and core online (LexisLibrary, LexisPSL, Practical Law, Westlaw UK) 
  • Experience with business research databases  such as Companies House, BvD Orbis, FT
  • Strong IT skills, in particular with KM, Library Management and Document management products
  • The ability to forge internal relationships and to drive engagement with stakeholders
  • An ability to manage multiple tasks and to manage conflicting priorities
