Intranet & Knowledge Systems Manager - Law

This role reports to the Head of Knowledge and Information Centre with responsibility in the UK for the day-to-day management of the firm's international intranet and UK knowledge management system. In addition the post-holder will line manage two knowledge systems specialists.

The role holder must provide forward thinking and innovative solutions to meet the needs of the changing business, with attention to creating efficiencies and excellence.

This is a collaborative role working with counterparts in other firm jurisdictions and across teams in the UK, in particular the Professional Support Lawyer team, Business Development, Marketing and Comms, the Document Specialists and IT.

There are two direct reports to this role, one based in London and one in Liverpool, so occasional travel to the Liverpool office will be a requirement.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Knowledge Team as an intranet subject matter expert as we embark on a project to upgrade our global intranet during 2022. This project enables us to better connect our people with tools, information, and knowledge, utilising the latest technology capabilities.

In addition to the responsibilities listed below the person appointed will play a key advisory role in the intranet upgrade project during 2022/23 to help shape best practice, governance, content strategy and ensure the new platform meets the requirements of the firm.

Intranet and Knowledge Systems

The role holds responsibility in the UK for the management, development, and promotion of the firm's knowledge systems, in particular the UK intranet and the firms SharePoint based knowledge management system.

  • Scope and implement the creation and updating of intranet pages, including working closely with lawyers and business services teams to present content on current and emerging hot topics
  • Gain a deep understanding of client and stakeholder knowledge requirements, balancing tailored solutions with a consistent user experience
  • Troubleshoot and obtain appropriate technical support as required from IT and/or external support company
  • Exploit and promote capabilities of any new technology related to the Intranet of Knowledge systems
  • Leverage intranet analytics capabilities to provide insights to develop the platform and improve user experience and content engagement
  • Work with Marketing and Communications (the news content owners) to facilitate the delivery of local and global news on the Intranet home page and drive engagement with content
  • Provide support and guidance to other firm offices in the development of their local content
  • Make suggestions/recommendations to the Head of Knowledge & Information Centre on changes to process and resourcing required to provide optimum value from the intranet for our people
  • Advise on, build, and implement taxonomies for deployment in the intranet and associated knowledge systems, as well as across other firm systems as required


  • Expertise in SharePoint 2013/2016 essential
  • 5+ years' experience working on/managing a global intranet
  • Work experience within a legal/professional services firm
  • Experience of managing projects
  • Proactive approach to client service
  • Understanding of different cultures and ways of working
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is paramount
  • Team player, but with ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously
  • Effective management of own and teams' workloads
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise
