A global law firm is looking for an Information Services Officer based in their London office. The role will involve providing library and research services to fee earners and staff across the organisation.

The role will include the following:

  •  Providing a research service including legal and business queries, tracking legal developments, and delivering fast and high quality information to all enquirers

  • Supporting business development initiatives and providing other appropriate support including in depth competitive intelligence reports

  • Management of electronic resources

  • Assisting the Research Manager in the preparation of statistical reports on the usage of research services, and electronic resources.

  • Organising and delivering presentations and training sessions.

  • Updating intranet pages using the SharePoint platform

  • Be the lead liaison with one of the firm’s practice areas.

  • Attending and presenting at practice group meetings where appropriate to raise the profile of research resources and services

  • Travelling to regional offices as necessary

  • Contributing to the evaluation of new services and products

To be considered for this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in the legal sector or professional services sector is essential.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Be able to form and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels across the business.

  • Have a commercial and professional approach

  • A library and information qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Membership of CILIP, BIALL or similar would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of Lexis Library, Westlaw UK, Lawtel, and Practical Law, and general online database search techniques is essential

  • Experience of using business information resources (including Companies House, Nexis, Newsdesk, Filings Expert, Orbis).

  • Experience using a library management system and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
