Information Officer - Law - Glasgow or Manchester
A multinational law firm with headquarters in Central London has an opportunity for Information Officer to join their team and be ideally based out of either Glasgow or Manchester. In this role the successful candidate will join a large team of information services and knowledge professionals who are geographically dispersed across the UK. The role will encompass a wide range of information services responsibilities, but the firm is keen to acquire an information professional who would like to specialise in either procurement or enquiry based work and training. On a day to day basis, it's likely that the role will support on legal and business enquiries, the provision of current awareness, training and resource management. It could be suitable for either an experienced information professional or someone relatively new to the profession.
The primary responsibilities and objectives of this Information Officer role include, but are not limited to:
- The provision of a legal and business research enquiry service in support of multiple practice areas
- Training lawyers and new starters on the use of research and information resources
- Working with suppliers to procure hardcopy resources and to renew/evaluate online subscriptions
- Library and collections management and the maintenance of relevant intranet pages/resources
- Supporting information services colleagues and lawyers with the production of a current awareness service
- Connecting with the wider firm to promote and drive engagement with information services
To be suitable for this Information Officer role, potential candidates will require the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a similar Information Services, Information Officer, Research Librarian or related role would be preferred
- Ideally, experience in an information services role within a legal setting
- Experience using industry standard legal research resources such as Westlaw or Practical Law
- Previous experience providing training or a willingness to assume responsibility for the provision of this service at a regional level
- Highly developed interpersonal, stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- An ability to organise and prioritise in a busy environment
- Strong administrative skills
