Information Services - Graduate Trainee - Law

One of the largest and most successful law firms operating in the UK has an opportunity for a recent graduate to join a large and dynamic information services function on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role is primarily aligned to procurement services, but would serve as an outstanding introduction to any recent Library Science or Library and Information Studies graduate that is seeking their first role as an information professional in a legal setting. 

The primary objectives and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Library support including shelving and cataloguing of hard copy resources and assisting with procurement
  • Updating and managing the Library Management System
  • Assisting with research requests including legal and business related enquiries
  • Loose-leaf management and journal distribution
  • Assisting with KM by adding relevant content to the Intranet
  • Assisting with information services projects

To be a suitable candidate for this role, you will need the following experience and skills:

  • A relevant degree qualification, a degree in Library and Information Science would be of particular interest
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Extremely attentive to minor details and highly organised 
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems 
  • A problem solver and someone that is consistently seeking out new ways to add value in their role
