Fabulous opportunity! An international law firm requires a Business Research Analyst to cover a period of maternity leave. Working closely with the central Research team, the Business Research Analyst (APAC) will have specific responsibility for the development of research solutions for APAC fee earners. The post holder will proactively engage with key stakeholders and establish close relationships in order to understand needs and develop creative research solutions in response.  The Business Research Analyst (APAC) uses a variety of sources to provide considered, comprehensive research outputs that support the firm. This involves interpreting data, analyzing trends, and writing reports as required. Ideally located in Hong Kong/London but other locations considered.  August start!

Responsibilities include:

  • Interviewing requesters to understand and scope their needs and requirements
  • Selecting the appropriate sources and on occasion identifying new sources
  • Producing branded Research reports to provide in-depth analysis of clients/sectors and highlighting business opportunities
  • On occasion, providing research support to external clients on an ad hoc or project basis
  • Promote Research & Library Services to the global firm
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the network on the development of research products and techniques
  • Contribute to the training of colleagues and act as a mentor
  • Contribute content to the Library Know How wiki and Library intranet

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Credible, capable professional who is able to build and maintain productive relationships with senior lawyers and peers across the business
  • Knowledge and experience of using  APAC focused business and financial resources
  • Excellent all round research skills, covering business, sector, and financial research
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to abstract and summarize complex arguments and draw conclusions
  • Numerical fluency and the ability to present data in an effective way, either through graphics or text
  • Ability to build and develop relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong technical skills in key financial products, particularly Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters
  • Experience of creating reports using the functionality of Word and Powerpoint, and competency in the use of Excel
  • Proactive approach with the ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload
  • At least five years relevant research experience
  • Ability to manage expectations and negotiate deadlines, along with strong organizational skills
  • Experience of, and an interest in, delivering research and analysis that offers real insight
  • The ability to interpret and then articulate key trends from raw data and present it to users
  • Able to source and the evaluate third party output
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English
  • A resourceful, creative and solutions orientated person
  • A flexible approach to working hours
