Business Insight Manager - Law

One of the fastest growing law firms in the UK has a new requirement for a Business Insight Manager. This is a new role and one that will support the continued growth of the firm by supporting Lawyers and the Business Development function by providing insight into clients, industries/markets and the strategic opportunities that exist to enhance or develop the services that the firm provides. This role is a senior position in the team and will also be responsible for the mentoring and development of less experienced staff, and will work with senior management to define and execute on strategy.

In this role the primary responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • Working in partnership with the Practice Development Director and the wider BD function of the firm
  • Identification of clients, competitors, markets and industries where insight is likely to be of strategic value to the firm, particularly in pitching
  • Undertake, manage and delegate research tasks and projects. 
  • Responsibility for research, analysis and insight outputs such as reports, briefings, presentations and recommendations
  • Driving strategic initiatives which include competitor analysis, identification of practice development opportunities and feeding in to an overarching client relationship programme
  • Driving internal engagement with the business insight programme and managing an internal communications strategy
  • Leading, mentoring and developing less experienced members of the insight team

To be a suitable candidate for this Business Insight Manager requirement, candidates require the following:

  • A demonstrable track record of leading a similar function in a legal or wider professional services setting
  • A deep understanding of the value of insight and analysis as part of a wider knowledge or information services strategy
  • The ability to collect information and data from multiple sources and distil this into actionable insights, reports and recommendations
  • Some experience in a law firm and understanding of the structure and relationships that exist would be particularly desirable
  • Previous experience in a strategic and leadership role
  • Demonstrable relationship building and senior stakeholder engagement skills, and an ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Intellectually curious and an ability to manage insight and analysis projects across multiple industries, markets and topics
  • A relevant degree qualification is an essential requirement
